Use Flooring And Metal Accents To Enhance Your Kitchen

If you’re buying an ex-display kitchen, it is bound to be on trend and will look stunning in your home, but there are a few kitchen design trends to watch out for in 2018 that could mean your new kitchen becomes something really special.

Country Living recently highlighted a few of the top things to watch out for – and there are plenty ideas of how to elevate your interiors around the main part of your kitchen.

One of the first things to consider is your flooring. According to the publication, darker floors look stunning in kitchens where you have light-coloured walls and cabinets. Using this kind of shade on the floor makes the space feel more cosy.

If dark floorboards don’t suit your kitchen design and you’re planning to use tiles instead, consider going for statement tiles. These can add a splash of colour and are “a more subtle way to add impact than, say, a bold eye-level splashback”, the magazine suggested.

Another trend that isn’t going anywhere is the use of metal in kitchen design. There are numerous opportunities to incorporate copper accents, for instance, such as on the cooker hood.

The website recommends using copper sheeting with coordinating straps and rivets to “add age-old warmth”. This is a great way to make something that’s functional into more of a centrepiece in your kitchen too.

Another feature that’s popping up in more and more kitchen designs is pantry cupboards, according to editor at Houzz.co.uk Victoria Harrison. She suggested that the Great British Bake Off may have played a part in getting people more excited about baking and cooking, and therefore left them wanting more space to store ingredients.
